Phillip Grace {}

Philip is responsible for overall operations of the company. He oversees the daily operations of the service, installation, environmental and parts departments to make sure that customer needs are being met. He works to maintain relationships with customers and regulatory agencies. He is a Board Member of the Little Rock Executive Association, Board Member and Membership Chair for the Young Presidents Association, UAMS Consortium Advisory Board Member, Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XXVI, President of Capitol 10-Group for Petroleum Equipment Institute, Passed the AR, LA, and TN Board for Licensing Contractors Examination and has his Real Estate License on hold at Colliers International. Grace graduated from the University of Arkansas with a business degree in Marketing. He and his wife Melanie have twins, Anna and Garrett.


Michael P.  Shelby {}
Co-Owner, CEO

Michael’s primary responsibilities are geared towards sales and marketing.  He works to build relationships with current clients and prospects.  Michael works very closely with all other department heads to make sure that  projects that are in the pipeline stay on time and in budget.  Michael has served since purchasing SOCO on numerous Arkansas Oil Marketers Boards and is treasurer of the PAC for AOMA.  Michael served 3 years on the Petroleum Equipment Institute Education Committee. Shelby graduated from the University of Arkansas with a business degree in Marketing.  Michael is married and lives in Little Rock with wife Aimee and sons Porter, Jack, and Matthew.


Lee Carter{}

Lee has 38 years experience in the petroleum marketing and petroleum equipment industries. In addition to his financial responsibilities as CFO of The Southern Company, Lee also serves as our IT director. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with degrees in Industrial Management and Finance and Banking, and worked for Exxon Corp. in various capacities before becoming an owner of Radford Equipment Company, which he sold in 2001. He is married to Nancy Sherman and is a proud grandfather to first grader, Brooklyn.



Larry Duke {} – Service Manager

Larry served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years before accepting the position as the service manager.  He has been the Service Manager for the Southern Company since October 2011.





Oriana Alba Thompson {}

Oriana Thompson currently serves as the Environmental Department Manager for SoCo, providing solutions to clients’ environmental needs. Current day-to-day responsibilities include project oversight, report review, client management, and staff supervision. She is responsible for ensuring consistency, quality, and on-time delivery of due services. Ms. Thompson has over 10 years of experience implementing ASTM Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Comprehensive Environmental Assessments, Remedial Action, and UST fuel system removals.  She graduated with a master’s degree in Soil Science from the University of Arkansas.

T. Scott Kemph {} – Environmental Services

T. Scott Kemph has over twenty two years of environmental consulting experience.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Montana State University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas.  Mr. Kemph is registered as a Professional Geologist in Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Wyoming.  Mr. Kemph has performed well over a thousand Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and serves as principal reviewer of his team’s Phase I Environmental Site Assessment reports at The Southern Company.  Mr. Kemph’s notable projects include numerous Brownfield’s redevelopment projects, environmental cleanups at Arkansas Nuclear One and numerous environmental cleanups of both organic and inorganic contaminants.   Mr. Kemph serves as a member of ASTM’s E50 Committee on Environmental Assessments.  Mr. Kemph is a certified by ASTM International to perform vapor encroachment screening of commercial and industrial properties.    He is active in a variety of civic and religious organizations including mentoring “at risk” youths with STEP Ministries, and serves on Mosaic Church’s Missions Board.  He travels widely, is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys life with his wife Mae, four dogs and a cat.


Steve Holland {}
Director of Purchasing

Steve’s primary duty is to order equipment and parts to meet the needs of our customers, service and installation departments. Steve also backs up our sales department when needed both for inside and outside sales calls. He works with the service department and installation department to coordinate and schedule delivers needed for our jobs. He also works with vendors to assure the best possible products and prices for our customers. Steve graduated from UALR and started with The Southern Co of NLR way back in 1974 in the parts department. He has had various roles at other petroleum equipment companies over the years and brings a wealth of knowledge to our company.  He is on the Tradeshow and Convention committee of the Arkansas Oil Marketers Association.
